MetroWest Medical Center Honors Physicians on National Doctors’ Day

Mar 25, 2024

Physicians from MetroWest celebrated for the care they provide

MetroWest Medical Center will celebrate National Doctors’ Day on Monday, March 25, by paying tribute to its physicians for their service, skill and compassion.

The 2024 National Doctors’ Day theme of “Wings & Stethoscopes: Healers of Hope,” reflects the idea that doctors selflessly and tirelessly work to improve the health of American families through two powerful symbols. The first is the stethoscope hanging from the shoulders of doctors, ready to spring into action. The second symbol is the caduceus, two snakes winding around a winged staff in a nod to an ancient Greek leader know for healing and medicine. National Doctors’ Day, observed on March 30 each year, recognizes and appreciates the pivotal role of doctors in maintaining and enhancing the health of our community.

“On behalf of our Board, leadership and employees, I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the physicians at our hospital,” says MetroWest Medical Center CEO John Whitlock, Jr. “Within our walls, the dedication of these professionals is evident every day as they provide care across a spectrum of specialties. The expertise, compassion, and tireless effort of our physicians significantly impacts our ability to deliver high-quality care.”

Doctors’ Day was officially established on March 30, 1991, when President George Bush issued a proclamation in observance of the day. March 30th also marks the anniversary of the first use of general anesthesia in surgery by Dr. Crawford W. Long in 1842. National Doctors’ Day is commonly celebrated in healthcare organizations, as a day to recognize the contributions of doctors to individual lives and communities.

“We invite our staff, patients, and the broader community to express their gratitude towards our physicians,” Whitlock says. “Their unwavering dedication and service help ensure the well-being of patients across our entire network.”

To honor the dedication and unwavering commitment of our physicians in providing high-quality health care to our patients, the hospitals will be serving breakfast to them on March 25.
