Foot health plays a vital role in overall health, activity level and quality of life. For patients with diabetes who have a higher risk of developing foot complications, it’s important to never underestimate a wound – even a minor one – as even a simple callus could be the tip of the iceberg that leads to a serious non-healing wound. Daily foot checks at home and routine foot checks by a healthcare professional are key in the prevention and early treatment of wounds.
The MetroWest Medical Center Advanced Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center is dedicated to preventing loss of limbs, healing hard-to-heal wounds and providing treatment for the optimum outcome for patients. The types of wounds treated include diabetic foot ulcers, non-healing surgical wounds, traumatic wounds, crush injuries, post-radiation injury to tissue or bone, among others. The wound healing center has a multidisciplinary team of physicians, along with nurses and technicians, to customize the most effective treatment plan to stimulate healing.
