MetroWest Medical Center Honors Sudbury Emergency Responders with ‘Call of the Quarter’ Award

Sudbury, MA – MetroWest Medical Center recognized a team of emergency responders from Sudbury for excellence in pre-hospital care in their most recent ‘Call of the Quarter’ award presentation.
MetroWest recognized emergency medical personnel, firefighters and police officers for saving the life of a patient in cardiac arrest. In a ceremony at the Sudbury Fire Headquarters, the hospital saluted William France, Michael Murphy, Alan Larochelle, Chief Scott Nix, Daniel Wells, Officer Ethan Carroll, Jamie Ragusa, Officer William Crisafulli, Lt. Kyle Gordon and Officer Dylan Haldiman.
In August, police were the first to arrive on the scene and immediately recognized signs of cardiac arrest. They began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and deployed an automated external defibrillator (AED). Sudbury Fire arrived moments later and began to provide advanced life support. The team’s quick thinking and heroic efforts demonstrated true teamwork, and the patient was alert upon arrival to the MetroWest Medical Center Emergency Department.
“It’s truly an honor to work with these first responders, and the efforts they made for this patient were unbelievable,” said Dr. David Morris, medical director of the emergency department at MetroWest Medical Center. “Thanks to the work they did that day, this patient now gets to spend the holidays with their family, and that’s a gift.”
The “Call of the Quarter” award honors first responders for heroic, life-saving measures they take in the communities surrounding MetroWest Medical Center. The award is presented four times each year.
“We couldn’t do what we do without partners like this team of emergency responders in Sudbury,” said Ava Collins, CEO of MetroWest Medical Center. “We’re proud of how they take care of this community, and proud of the relationship we have with them to coordinate care for every patient.”
Sudbury Town Manager Henry L. Hayes, Jr. praised the team for helping sustain a safe, secure, and strong community.
“I am immensely proud of the outcomes, but even beyond that, the heart and character this team has,” Hayes said. “It’s because of the entire team collectively, and we can’t do it without each other.”
