MetroWest Medical Center Shows Appreciation During National Emergency Medical Services Week

May 16, 2024

Framingham, Mass. – May 19-25, 2024 marks the 50th Anniversary of National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week. This year’s theme, “Honoring Our Past. Forging Our Future,” reminds to acknowledge the men and women who commit their lives—now, then, and in the future— to protecting and providing critical, life-saving services and compassionate care to our patients and community.

“For many patients, their first interaction in an emergency is with the EMS professionals they trust to come into their homes and work in their communities. We are proud of our EMS colleagues who ensure life-saving care begins well before patients arrive in our Emergency Department,” says Dr. Lisa Sotir, Chief of Emergency Medicine at MetroWest Medical Center.

Since 1974, hospitals across the country have celebrated National Emergency Medical Services Week and invited their communities to recognize and thank the dedicated first responders who provide quality care throughout the year. We encourage everyone to dial 9-1-1 in an emergency so that EMS can provide immediate care and transport you safely and quickly to the hospital.

“National EMS Week celebrates the paramedics, EMTs, and other EMS professionals who work diligently to care for our patients and serve their communities in times of crisis,” says John Whitlock, Chief Executive Officer for MetroWest Medical Center. “This week features messages and activities to raise awareness about the importance of out-of-hospital care and to thank EMS personnel for their dedication to providing life-saving skills those in need.”

MetroWest Medical Center has planned many engagement activities this week to celebrate and thank our EMS providers. We thank them for their commitment to each life in our community in their time of need. We are Better Together with you.

With the collaboration of our regional community EMS teams MetroWest Medical Center Emergency Department is ready to help and provide the quality care you need. For more information, visit our website here.
